North Vietnamese Army
and Viet Cong Forces Authenticity
General
All personal items such as jewelry, watches, eyeglasses, etc. should be
period. If your impression includes a wristwatch, it should be as plain and
simple a style as possible hung on a plain cotton or nylon strap. Remember that
NVA/VC troops were largely peasants and farmers and may have never owned a
wristwatch. Round lens metal framed eyeglasses are most correct. Hair would
normally be worn short on the sides and a little longer on top for NVA. VC and
Civilians would wear their hair a little longer on both sides and top. The
typical NVA/VC would be clean shaven (or unable to grow facial hair).
If you are attending as Vietnames (NVA or VC), you MUST have an approved
uniform. No blue jeans, tee shirts, scrubs, etc. There are several sources for
black PJ's and NVA uniforms.

food should at the minimum be canned with incorrect labels removed. Asian canned
food is OK with the labels left on. Absolutely no modern food such as MRE's,
Lunchables, Subway, McDonalds, Power Bars, etc. These were not in Vietnam and
they are not appropriate for this event. If you would like to bring a cooler,
please use Mermite Cans or a modern cooler that is encased in a period item such
as a crate, footlocker, etc. Please make sure that the contents of your cooler
are as close to period as possible. This includes bottled Cokes, etc.
