US Forces Authenticity
Please note that the only impressions allowed are 25th
Infantry Division and Communist
Vietnamese. Not that all units are not welcome, we just ask that you have one of
the listed divisional patches, or no shoulder sleeve insignia at all.
This event focuses on the time period Tet 1968. This is an infantry event and expect to walk. You must be able
to carry all of your personal equipment.
Infantry
General
All participants should be clean shaven upon arrival and have no
established facial hair other that a regulation mustache. All personal items
such as jewelry, watches, etc. should be period. Hair will be of military
length, off of the ears and collar. No pony tails, beards, etc will be
tolerated. You will be asked to get a haircut or shave before you may enter the
site. You should bring at least 2 to 3 gallons of water per participant! (carry
4 to 6 quarts on your gear and leave the rest in your base area). Remember that
the goal is to be a typical infantryman of the time, not the exception. For this
reason, please refrain from obscure impressions, the use of "captured" webgear
and uniform items, etc.

Food And Shelter
There will hopefully be three hot meals provided for the US forces (Fri. Dinner, Sat. Breackfast, Sat. Dinner).
As soon as we get a confirmation on the field
kitchen we will post it here.
You will be responsible for providing your own food for any time outside
of that. All
food should at the minimum be canned with the labels removed and painted OD
Green. Absolutely no modern food such as MRE's, Lunchables, Subway, McDonalds, Power Bars, etc. These were not in Vietnam and they are not
appropriate for this event. If you would like to bring a cooler, please use Mermite
Cans or a modern cooler that is encased in a period item such as a crate,
footlocker, etc. Please make sure that the contents
of your cooler are as close to period as possible. This includes bottled Cokes,
etc.
We will be using GP mediums and smalls in the firebase, so bring a cot or air
mattress, sleeping bag, poncho liner, etc. Every effort will me made to keep the
area as authentic as possible. Your
physical surroundings can be controlled and every effort should be made to
police the area and remove any non-period items. If you have non-period items
laying about where they can be seen they run the risk of being picked up and
disposed of.
Vehicles
Vehicles are welcome! However, at this event they will have limited usage. If you have a Nam era vehicle including Deuce's, Mules,
Mutts, M-38's etc please feel free to bring it! However, please ensure that it
resembles it's original purpose and look including features and that it is true
to the period (example, no Mutt with a Dragon Missile Launcher painted purple).
If you have a machine gun mounted on your vehicle, please remove it before the
event if it is not period. No 1919's, Vicker's, M240's etc should be mounted on a
Vietnam Era vehicle.
Specialized Impressions
Specialized impressions such as medics, drivers, clerks, MP's, engineers to
clear roads, etc add to the
event and you are encouraged to bring all appropriate equipment. Please ensure
that you have researched your impression and that everything is accurate for
your impression and the time period. Please contact event organizers as soon
as possible to assure that your impression is allocated
for the scenario.
Weapons
AR-15 / M-16 This is the rifle of
choice and should be carried by most all participants. Rifle must be in correct
Vietnam Era Configuration and have a "hollywood" or internal BFA (no visible
blank adapters such as the military issue). This means triangle handguards, A1
"pencil" barrel, A1 rear sights, smooth pistol grip and M16 or M16A1 buttstock.
ABSOLUTELY NO A2 FEATURES WILL BE ALLOWED. This includes heavy A2 barrels,
round hand guards, finger groove pistol grips, A2 rear sites. If you bring this
as your primary weapon you will be asked to leave it in your car and you will be
assigned a duty which does not require you have a personal weapon. No 30 round
magazines, or 20 round curved magazines. They are not correct for this time
period and are visually obvious.
CAR-15/XM-177 Are authorized for officers
/ NCO's only. Even
at this point, full size A1's are strongly encouraged due to the 1968 date of
the scenario. Absolutely no CAR 15's will
be allowed unless they have the correct XM177 style flashider that is bored out
to cover part of the barrel length. Do not have a standard 3-prong or full
birdcage suppressor on the end of a 16" barrel as this is simply not correct.
M-14 / M1A This is an acceptable substitute in limited numbers and for
specialized impressions.
Shotguns We understand that some people do
not have a rifle and only have a shotgun. These are acceptable in extremely
limited numbers and must be in correct military configuration. This includes
short barrel lengths. Please do not bring your Dove gun.
M-79 Grenade Launcher Acceptable rounds
are flares (depending on dryness of area), shotgun blanks, bird bombs, etc. No
actual hard projectiles may leave the bore.
M-60 and M-2 Machine Guns These are the
only belt fed weapons allowed.
WWII Firearms Do to the fact that we are
portraying line infantry and mech infantry units in 1967 to 1972, there are no
WWII firearms allowed. This includes M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, BAR's, Grease
Guns, Thompsons, 1919's, etc. These weapons were not issued as standard
equipment to infantry units in Vietnam at this time. The goal is to be the norm,
not the exception.
