NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE, MK-138, MOD-1 UNDERWATER DEMOLITION CHARGE / SATCHEL CHARGE. These demolition charges were comprised of the canvas MK4 MOD-1 Bag with explosives to create the MK 138 CHARGE. These demo bags were used by Naval Special Warfare Operators to blow up underwater obstacles, clear paths for landings, and destroy enemy ships, equipment and structures.

The bags are canvas construction and consist of attaching points and hooks to ease with placement on objects. There is a section of cotton rope with a metal hook that is laced into the bag and coiled along the side. This rope can be use to lash the demolition charge bag to its target. The opposite side of the bag has a simple cutter device attached. The bags also feature a bladder in the top flap. The bladder could be used to adjust the buoyancy of the charge bag. This can aid the swimmer with delivery and with attaching the device by attaining neutral buoyancy for the bag.

Both of the kits that we have available have 1975 lot numbers on the case. They also have inflation bladders that hold air and the inflator tube is not rotten or brittle. Push in on the tip of the tube to blow and then release to seal. I would not leave them inflated over a long period, but we tried just to test if they would work. The best part is that these are not just empty bags. These are have been made into training kits with dummy ordnance blocks. Each bag has 4 blocks.

THESE BAGS ARE HARD TO FIND AND TO FIND THEM COMPLETE WITH ROPE AND THEN THE DUMMY ORDNANCE IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF!

Buyer will receive a PDF document that I put together covering the owner's US Navy career. The bio packet includes his Naval Academy Diploma, Commission in the Navy, Promotion to Commander while in Naval Special Warfare Unit Two, ID while serving in the Middle East, a great team pic in boats, and best of all, his hand written application to be a Foreign Service Officer after his retirement. This document has page after page where he outlines his entire career in the Navy to bolster his application as a Foreign Service Officer.
