E Company (9th. Infantry Division), Subd.
From May 1965 to December 1967, each Division and Separate Brigade stationed in the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) formed a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP). In December 1967 the Department of the Army authorized a more formal directive for the formation of Long Range Patrol (LRP) units. Then, in February 1969, divisional LRP units were re-designated as Ranger companies with each Division and Separate Brigade receiving a Ranger Company. The Ranger scroll was typically worn above the division or brigade shoulder sleeve insignia.
