3rd Pattern Jungle Fatigues - Uniforms & Clothing

3rd Pattern Jungle Fatigues

  • Reproduction 3rd Pattern R/S Jungle Fatigues. We have decided to offer these as an "economy" option. These fatigues are produced by Rothco and are Vietnam styled, with slant pockets, etc. but they lack some of the small, specific details such as pocket drain holes, inner pockets, correct tags, etc. Because of their use of off the shelf fabric, lack of small details and large their production numbers, they have a lower production cost and we can offer them at a reduced rate compared to our other fatigues. Fatigues are 100% cotton ripstop and have been "pre-aged" so they appear to be faded and are lighter than their photo above. These are fine for most reenactments, airsoft, stage productions etc. Dying instructions courtesy of Eason Zoo in Wellington, New Zealand. As mentioned before, the Rothco 3rd Pattern Jungle Fatigues had a pre-aged factory finish that has a grey type color. It is ok, but many customers prefer a more accurate OD jungle fatigue look. Below are the instructions to dye these at home and you can reference photos 3 and beyond to see the process and finished look. The before uniform is on the right and the dyed uniform on the left. Please note, we are not responsible if this does not work right for you, we are just passing along the information that we found from someone who has done a good job with these. 1. Start with RIT Golden Yellow and Navy Blue Dye. You will mix then roughly 1 to 1 in a clean bucket. 2. Fill the bucket with warm water put 1/2 of the yellow bottle in the bucket. Then add navy blue gradually until the water reaches a dark green. It will look almost black, but if you spoon the water out of the bucket and let it fall back in, you will see it is OD green, The water should be much darker than the desired finished color. 3. Submerge the uniform set into the water where the pieces are completely covered and oak for approximately 30 minutes. As the dye takes into the fabric, the water itself will lose color and will become a tea-yellow color. You can add some salt to the bucket to help set the colors and then remove the uniform. 4. Once removed, rinse and spin dry in the washing machine then hang dry the uniform and allow it to dry. After this it can be worn and washed as usual. Learn More
